  • About the Artist

Yann Cosruer is a French artist born in the suburbs of Lyon in 1975. At the age of 39 he decided to devote himself to artistic expression. Parents teachers, an eclectic life course, having grown up in a popular neighborhood; Yann Cosruer has kept his childhood and his experience, values, a certain form of militancy. On the one hand, he wants to make his work accessible to the greatest number of people - not hesitating to beat the campaign to meet the public - and on the other hand works from a material that he completely recycles. : the pallet of handling. His works refer to current themes, to other very current media such as cinema, comics, manga or cartoons. They are tinged with humor and distance, speak of our time and address the contemporaries that we are. From the palette, he uses everything: planks, cubes, nails and even sawdust. He plays with this raw material, the grave, the twist, the painted and comes out of objects, halfway between the canvas and the sculpture, incorporating the particularism of this living support. It is not a question of masking the asperities, the imperfections of the material but, still taken, to do with to value them. Although very careful not to tarnish his values, to remain faithful to the culture of recovery, Yann Cosruer is however not locked in a single support. He is constantly seeking new forms of expression, thus continuing his artistic journey and his dialogue with the public.
