From the 9th to the 12th of September 2021, Art Paris will take place in the iconic heart of the French Cultural Capital. Directly in front of the Eiffel Tower, the fair will take place in the temporary Grand Palais Éphémère in Champ-de-Mars, designed by renowned Architect Jean-Micheal Wilmotte.

Constantly reaffirming its importance as an established and central art fair, Art Paris is returning to the city with an explosion of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Some unmissable works include the Equality statue (25 meters tall) by Japanese artist Kohei Nawa with Damae.io, and the performance ‘Attrape-Lune’ by French artist Sarah Trouche. Opening the fair on the 8th of September, Sarah Trouche’s performance will involve 9 dancers in a ballet of light, reflecting the surrounding architecture, the works on display and the audience.

But this is just the pinnacle of Art Paris 2021. Many other surprises await in this intense late summer weekend all to be discovered with the umbrella VIP programme ‘In Paris during Art Paris’, or by simply exploring the site…

After being able to open its doors in-between lockdowns last year, Art Paris 2021 emerges to underline the importance of making Contemporary Art accessible to all. Renewing their efforts to reach out to everyone by showing the public an outstanding collection, the organisers of this art fair affirm that “Art Paris is a place for discovery”. The impressive temporary building will host an incredible overview of established and emerging artists from all over the world.

As well as being an important platform for European Art, this year Art Paris will bring together an impressive 140 galleries from more than 20 countries. With many new international galleries participating, audiences have the opportunity to explore new art scenes and discover a range of African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Latin American masterpieces.

Even with this international selection, the art fair gives particular importance to French contemporary artists. As well as including many solo shows (around 26), this year it will also host a group exhibition curated by Hervé Mikaeloff. This exhibition, called ‘Portraiture and Figuration’, will display works by twenty French artists around the central theme of the portrait and renewing figurative painting in France. As the guest curator explains, “In a ‘post-medium’ era, art is more than ever questioning its relationship to the image.”

However, Art Paris is not only a space for established artists and galleries, emerging talents and young galleries will also be on display. With a special reduction on the participation fees, Art Paris is giving special importance to the ‘Promises’ section of the fair, where many of the young galleries will included for the first time.

This is a unique opportunity to broaden one’s horizons, going beyond the borders of the usual art scene and diving into the big themes of the Arts, with a wide, inclusive and critical lens.
